Suspect in fatal shooting found dead in KCMO

Mission Police say this morning's disturbance was a dispute between two brothers.

Officers were called to 5799 Broadmoor at about 7:14 this morning. Arriving units located, 57-year-old, Todd A. Pruitt of Shawnee, shot in the parking lot. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators say the suspect is Todd's brother, Robert Pruitt, 58 of Merriam. Witnesses reported Robert fleeing the scene in a medium blue Ford Fiesta. That vehicle, a rental car, had been reported stolen.

Around 12:20 p.m., officers searching a park in the area of Interstate 435 and Holmes in Kansas City, Missouri, located the suspect, Robert Pruitt, who had taken his own life.

Police say that the family has been notified. No other details are currently being released.

Mission Police are investigating a shooting this morning.

Police were called to the area of Johnson Drive and Broadmoor Street at 7:15 a.m. on what was initially reported as an armed disturbance. Officers located a subject laying in the parking lot of an office building at 5799 Broadmoor Street with multiple gunshots wounds.

The victim is said to be a male in his late 40's or 50's with as many as five gunshot wounds. Police confirm the victim has died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the forehead and at least three to the chest. Police say they believe the victim knew his attacker.

Officers have confirmed the suspect is a white male in his 40's, approximately 6 feet tall, 180lbs. The suspect reportedly fled in a blue Ford Fiesta hatchback with Illinois license plates. The vehicle fled northbound from the scene on Broadmoor. Police say they have a lead on a suspect, no other details are currently being released. Police say they have several witnesses to the incident.

Police ask anyone with information regarding this incident to contact Mission Police or the TIPS Hotline 816-474-TIPS (8477).

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Investigators are assisting with the investigation.
