Driver critically injured in collision with parked vehicle

The Kansas Highway Patrol report says that a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee was legally parked on the right shoulder of southbound Interstate 35 near mile marker 227.3 or just north of the 75th Street bridge. 
Michelle D. Huff, 50 of Kansas City, Kansas, was traveling southbound in a 2004 Ford Taurus when the she drove onto the right shoulder and rear-ended the parked Jeep Grand Cherokee. Huff was transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center with critical injuries. She was wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred.
Troopers say the Jeep Grand Cherokee was unoccupied at the time of the collision.

One woman was critically injured this morning when the vehicle she was driving struck a car which was parked on the shoulder of Interstate 35.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says the accident was reported shortly before 6:00 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 just north of the 75th Street overpass, and one person sustained life-threatening injuries.

The injured person is only described as a "female in her 50's".

A Kansas Highway Patrol dispatcher says that the exit ramp from southbound Interstate 35 to 75th Street remains open.
